See: Carrie\u2019s (Sarah Jessica Parker) wisecrack to Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) in the premiere \u2014 \u201cI don\u2019t know which is worse\u2026 that you slept with a nun, or that you slept with a tourist.\u201d Or: Carrie\u2019s visit to Virginia, which brings to mind Season 4\u2019s Episode 9 in which Carrie goes to the country home of Aidan (John Corbett) in Suffern, New York.<\/p>\n<p>This season, as Carrie faces the uncertainty of a long-distance relationship with Aidan, she tries to move forward \u2014 and out of her comfort zone. Having left her longtime Upper East Side haven for a Greek Revival house in Gramercy, she tries her hand at writing historical fiction. Reflecting these changes, Carrie\u2019s always-discussion-starting fashion breaks new ground, while also revisiting the past. Ahead, <em>And Just Like That<\/em>\u2019s<em> <\/em>costume designers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/mgrmgm\/?hl=en\">Molly Rogers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/the_danny_santiago\/?hl=en\">Danny Santiago<\/a>, discuss some of their favorite looks from the season so far.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Carrie\u2019s Victorian Sensibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908322.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>Carrie opens the season by writing vintage postcards to Aidan, who is living in Virginia. Her circa-1840 house complements the old time-y pastime \u2014 along with her romantic, rose-adorned jacket-and-dress set from London designer <a href=\"https:\/\/shop-us.simonerocha.com\/blogs\/collections\/spring-summer-2024-collection\">Simone Rocha\u2019s ethereal Spring 2024 collection<\/a>, which nods back to Carrie\u2019s former signature look.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got excited because it kind of moved the needle on the tutu\u2026 we thought that was a more adult [take on the] look,\u201d says Rogers.<\/p>\n<p>The puff-sleeves, full skirt, and corsetry also hint at Carrie\u2019s late-1800s-referential wardrobe evolution to come as she attempts to write a period novel. Inspired by the avant-garde <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maisonmargiela.com\/en-us\/mm-artisanal-spring-summer-2024.html\">John Galliano\u2019s Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal collection<\/a>, Rogers and Santiago imagined Carrie\u2019s sartorial interpretation of the horse-and-carriage era.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908323.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>In episode two, she wears a Donna Karan beige bodysuit and white Mary Jane pumps by Paula Votteler with a raw-hem Margiela denim skirt with Victorian bustle-style draping. In episode five, for a truce\/brainstorm dinner with her neighbor Duncan Reeves (Jonathan Cake), Carrie further explores period dressing in vintage khaki riding jodhpurs and an off-the-shoulder Jean Paul Gaultier top.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s thinking about her novel that\u2019s looking back at this time,\u201d says Santiago. \u201cSo some of her fashion decisions are based on her research.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Carrie\u2019s Controversial Hat<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908326.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>Along with sky-high Manolo Blahnik heels and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.refinery29.com\/en-us\/2022\/01\/10847554\/fendi-baguette-y2k-trend-explained\">Fendi baguettes<\/a>, statement headwear has long been Carrie\u2019s calling card. Outdoing herself again, she kicks off Season 3 with a sculptural, pink gingham hat by Maryam Keyhani paired with a vintage Ossie Clark dress with an inverted basque waistline and pannier-like skirt silhouette.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted something that felt very light, airy, fresh, and playful,\u201d says Santiago, about aligning the look with the summer day in the park setting. \u201cThere is a nod to that [late-19th-century] period, especially the hat. She\u2019s in her inspiration period right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Carrie\u2019s whimsical hat \u2014 aptly-named \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/maryamkeyhani.com\/collections\/shop\/products\/head-in-the-clouds-personal-favourite-1\">Head in the Clouds<\/a>\u201d by the brand \u2014 seems to have caused even more discussion than her up-in-the-air relationship status with Aidan, with many <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/05\/30\/style\/and-just-like-that-fans-troll-sarah-jessica-parker-for-season-3-premiere-hat\/\">poking fun of the look<\/a>, which surprised Rogers. \u201cI\u2019m shocked that at this point that people even bat an eye at Carrie in some wackadoodle great hat,\u201d says Rogers.\u201dDo you want us to put her in a canvas sun hat? The alternative is <em>not<\/em> Carrie cool.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Carrie\u2019s Travel Outfit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908327.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>In episode four, Carrie wrangles a speaking gig\u00a0that\u2019s conveniently located in Virginia near Aidan\u2019s farm, where she\u2019s hoping to stay on an extended visit. Carrie dresses as only Carrie would for treks through sprawling airports and waits in rental car lines: head-to-toe Vivienne Westwood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had historical costume moments with Westwood all through the original series,\u201d says Rogers, adding that the team also wanted to honor the legendary designer who died as they were prepping for the season. After pairing Westwood\u2019s Victoriana-meets-punk Panther dress with a chevron cardigan, Rogers and Santiago decided to go all-in with the British designer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s the only time Carrie has worn one designer head-to-toe,\u201d says Rogers. \u201cThat\u2019s a big Easter egg.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908328.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>Carrie somehow fits all her travel essentials into a circular Orb tote from the brand, and dashes to the car in strappy, five-inch brown platform sandals that would <em>not<\/em> be conducive to a mile-long walk (or ATV drive that she later takes) through the countryside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe strappy shoes used to be [Parker\u2019s] favorite shoe in the entire world,\u201d says Rogers, who unearthed the Westwood heels from the <em>SATC<\/em> costume archive. \u201cAfter she had filmed in them for a week, she said, \u2018I never want to see those again. They were so painful.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Carrie\u2019s \u201cCarrie On The Prairie\u201d Dress<\/strong>es<\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908329.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>After Aidan <em>finally<\/em> invites her to stay at his farm, Carrie, who lost her luggage, swaps out her Westwood outfit for Aidan\u2019s son Homer\u2019s (Corbin Drew Ross) baseball uniform \u2014 paired with her Westwood heels, naturally \u2014 to get new clothes. After inquiring about nearby retail options, she heads to Daisy\u2019s Dress Shop, which apparently only carries floral maxi dresses and nightgown-like frocks. After purchasing a few styles, Carrie refers to her new look as \u201cCarrie on the Prairie.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908330.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>Even though their prep coincided with the Nap Dress craze and cottagecore trend, with plenty of current options available for the costume designers to pull, Santiago says the costume designers decided to go \u201cthe vintage route\u201d to avoid associating any one brand with the episode that pokes fun at the fashion available in Aidan\u2019s rural home. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908331.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cPlease don\u2019t say \u2018Summer\u2019s Eve,\u2019\u201d says Carrie, referencing the floral fashion in the brand\u2019s cringe-y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iTLLlBP6Vxc\">\u201880s commercials<\/a>. In the end, her \u201970s-inspired dress \u2014 with flowy sleeves, ruffles, and pink florals on chevron stripes \u2014 walked the fine line of looking unexpectedly cool in that Carrie way while still providing comedic relief necessary for the episode that sees Aidan struggling to parent his son Wyatt (Logan Souza).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were so many jokes written for that scene,\u201d says Rogers. \u201cBut honestly, in the end, it looked like something that came out of Saks or Zimmermann.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Carrie\u2019s Offscreen Shoe Outfits<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908334.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>Carrie does not believe in a shoe-free home and insists on stomping across her hardwood floors in various heels in episode five. This, much to the consternation of her downstairs neighbor, Duncan, who\u2019s suffering from a case of writer\u2019s block.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were hoarding shoes from day one,\u201d says Rogers of the envy-inducing montage of shoe close-ups. \u201cWe were calling everyone and saying, \u2018Send us your best shoe. Make sure it\u2019s the latest and greatest, and it has to be, not clunky, but it has to make noise.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If you play the montage in slo-mo and use your imagination, maybe you\u2019ll catch some of the full looks that only Carrie would wear at home. If you ask the costume designers? \u201cThere\u2019s the day-glow Rene Caovilla heels with the Isabela Capeto charm dress,\u201d says Rogers. \u201cI bought it in the Hamptons with SJ.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"http:\/\/baldheadedgirls.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/11908335.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p>The outfit combos also include: Aquazurra yellow slingbacks with a vintage pink dress, Rene Caovilla pink crystal bow-adorned heels with a Bob Mackie opera coat, a Missoni crochet dress and white Manolo Blahnik thigh-high boots, Maskit overalls and turquoise Alexander McQueen western-style heels, Ralph Lauren Polo boxer shorts lined with vintage crinoline and customized Gucci patent Mary Jane pumps, and sweatpants with red sock booties that were designed by Rogers and Santiago for Parker\u2019s SJP Collection. Despite knowing that these looks would not appear in full onscreen, Santiago and Rogers felt it was important to create them regardless for the purpose of storytelling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey wanted us <em>not<\/em> to put these outfits together,\u201d says Santiago. \u201cWe ended up styling every single one of those shoes and made outfits to go with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s start a petition to #ReleaseTheFullOutfitCut.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Like what you see?
