A Scandal<\/em><\/a> spin-off series may not be happening yet<\/em>, and for now only exists in the imaginations of super fans missing the Shonda Rhimes<\/a>\u2019 show, but Kerry Washington<\/a> has officially given Tyriq Withers<\/a> her stamp of approval to star in it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

After social media users noticed the resemblance between the Him<\/em><\/a> actor and Tony Goldwyn<\/a>, who starred as President Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III in the iconic ABC drama, fans started daydreaming about Withers playing Olivia Pope and Fitz\u2019s love child in a sequel series. One fan on Threads<\/a> created a whole plot casting Withers and One Battle After Another<\/em><\/a> star Chase Infiniti as siblings forging their own paths in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna have to get him a white hat,\u201d Washington, referring to the symbolic crown donned by notorious gladiators at Pope & Associates. The veteran actress sang the up-and-comers praises with Refinery29 Unbothered<\/a> on the red carpet of the NAACP Image Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t have to audition,\u201d Washington continued. \u201cI think Tyriq is so talented, so extraordinary. I\u2019m so proud of him. I think he\u2019s doing big things in the world, and I think it\u2019s really cute that the internet wants him to play our future love child.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Withers, who has won the internet over with his chiseled features and playful personality, he told Unbothered that he\u2019s down for the role. He added that he\u2019s flattered the internet wants to see him in the Shondaland universe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI watched Scandal<\/em> when I was in college so I think it\u2019s iconic that people relate me to that world,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cI had the pleasure of sitting next to [Kerry] at the Academy Gala, and she just embraced me with nothing but love,\u201d Withers said. Withers was nominated alongside Washington\u2019s husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, for Best Actor at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not hard to picture Washington and Withers as a mother-son duo onscreen, especially as the actors add fuel to the theory\u2019s flame. Washington, Withers, and Infiniti took a selfie at the Image Awards with Washington captioning the photo<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s a family reunion at the @naacpimageawards (Missing you @tonygoldwyn).\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Withers even obliged when Goldwyn commented \u201cphotoshop me in,\u201d perfectly completing the fictional family photo.<\/p>\n

Goldwyn continued the fun when he sent Withers a special message when the Reminders of Him<\/em> star appeared on the Today Show<\/a> last week. \u201cWe really should do this show together sometime, because what\u2019s more important than family?\u201d Goldwyn said with a cheeky smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Withers doubled down on his desire to be Fitz Jr. on a spinoff during that interview. Of course, the hypothetical spinoff needs Rhimes\u2019 blessing to get greenlit, but Withers left hopeful fans with a few words: \u201cI\u2019m here now it\u2019s handled.\u201d<\/p>\n
